Chhael Chhabeele Amma Bapu

Chhael Chhabeele Amma Bapu is an initiative where we visit homes in the Kangra district to speak to parents/guardians about ways of raising individuals in gender-neutral environments. This is being done to minimize abuse faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals at their natal homes. The idea came to us with a question:

“How else could we find ways to reduce violence, discrimination, and abuse faced by young individuals who do not fit into structures of Gender Binary?”

Knock on doors and speak to more people, particularly natal family members. These are usually the first bullies in a person’s life, who might identify as Queer or Trans*.
